Yoshinori Monta “Hot Summer Night” is a 1986 Japan Record LP from the singer behind the huge hit “Dancing All Night,” pushing his soulful voice into full-on summer city pop and boogie mode. Built around crisp 80s drums, synth bass and silky horns, it plays like a night-time resort soundtrack from start to finish: “Summer Night Breathing” drifts along as a smooth stepper, “6-gatsu no Yokohama” paints a neon-lit bayside scene, and “Wonder Night” is the killer mid-tempo urban boogie cut with sax riffs that has made this album a favorite in the WA B.O.O.G.I.E. 1980s Japanese Boogie crowd – very DJ- and sample-friendly, but also perfect to just let run on a hot evening with the windows open.
