Romantic Guys is where Yoshino Fujimaru’s city pop and West Coast AOR side comes through beautifully. Recorded between LA and Tokyo, the album brings in serious players including Robben Ford, Russell Ferrante, Nathan East, Abraham Laboriel, Mike Baird, and Paulinho Da Costa, alongside AB’S-related names such as Makoto Matsushita, Naoki Watanabe, and Kakuo Okamoto. The sound is smooth and adult, but never flat. Fujimaru’s guitar keeps the whole record warm, tight, and quietly groovy. “Natsu no Onna” is a clear highlight, while “C’est Fini” shows the deeper AOR side of the album. A strong pick for anyone into Japanese city pop with real musician-level weight underneath.
