Japan Original Pressing.

A deeply overlooked 1976 Japanese singer-songwriter gem — husky vocals, mellow soul, folk and cinematic grooves shaped in part by Yuji Ohno, including the stunning “Omoide no Screen.”

Anata… is the remarkable 1976 debut from Yasuko Kawashima, a record that begins in the world of intimate Japanese folk but gradually opens into something much deeper and more sophisticated. Yuji Ohno, Takahiko Ishikawa and Gan Takayama handle the arrangements, with players including Kiyoshi Sugimoto and Tadahide Yoshikawa adding further depth.

The centerpiece is the six-minute “Omoide no Screen” — arranged by Yuji Ohno, slow-burning, cinematic and deeply soulful, with a groove so strong it was later sampled by Curren$y on “AD5.” “Anata no Tame ni” carries the same elegant Ohno touch, while Kawashima’s husky, restrained voice gives the entire album an unusually intimate atmosphere.

Far more than a ’70s Japanese folk record — a beautifully understated meeting point of singer-songwriter music, mellow groove and Yuji Ohno’s cinematic sensibility.

About the Condition

Grade Description
S (Sealed) Still sealed in factory wrap. Never played.
M (Mint) Perfect condition. Looks unplayed with no signs of use. Typically used for records that are brand new or opened but never played.
EX (Excellent) Very clean. May have light scuffs or hairline marks, but plays perfectly.
VG+ (Very Good Plus) Minor wear, light surface noise, no major flaws — a solid average used copy.
VG (Very Good) Visible wear and surface noise. Plays through without skipping.
G+ (Good Plus) Heavily used. Significant wear or scratches, but still playable.

+ / − may be added to indicate slight variations (e.g. VG+, EX−).

We visually inspect every record, and we clean each one before shipping (play-testing when needed). Even new or great-looking vinyl—especially some Japanese pressings—can have light background noise. We grade carefully by eye and ear, but it’s still a human call, so please check the notes before buying.
