Originally released only in Japan in 1983 — a cult Balearic / ambient-guitar masterpiece where sun-bleached melodies, dreamy electronics and weightless blues drift together like an endless summer afternoon.
British fashion photographer Steve Hiett created this extraordinary album around his 1983 Tokyo exhibition, recording across Paris, New York and Tokyo with members of Moonriders and guitarist Elliott Randall.
Dreamy, heavily echoed guitars float somewhere between The Durutti Column, Ashra, Balearic music and slow-motion surf blues. Even familiar songs such as “Roll Over Beethoven” and “Sleep Walk” are transformed into hazy, almost weightless soundscapes, while “Blue Beach,” “By The Pool” and “Hot Afternoon” perfectly capture the album’s sun-faded atmosphere.
Originally available only in Japan and unreleased internationally for more than three decades, this is a true cult favorite — strange, beautiful and completely timeless.
