A 1982 Japan-only compilation capturing early collaborations between Ryuichi Sakamoto and Kazumi Watanabe, pulled from key late-70s sessions.
This one feels like a snapshot of Tokyo’s studio scene right before everyone became “legend status” — Akiko Yano, Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, Shuichi “Ponta” Murakami, Yasuaki Shimizu, Toshiyuki Honda, Shigeharu Mukai… the credits are unreal.
Opener “Tokyo Joe” is a Bryan Ferry cover, flipped into sleek synth-fusion with that unmistakable early-80s Japanese sheen.
