A raw and powerful live document of Okinawan island songs, led by Rinsho Kadekaru’s voice and sanshin.
This is not a polished studio folk record. Recorded live at the 1974 Ryukyu Festival “Katayabira Shima Uta” in Osaka, this album captures Rinsho Kadekaru in front of an audience, with his voice, sanshin, and timing carrying the whole space. Kadekaru is one of the essential figures of Okinawan minyo, and this record shows why. The songs are direct, earthy, and deeply human, with support from names such as Sadatomo China and Tetsuhiro Daiku adding even more weight to the performance.
