A very special record in Ned Doheny’s catalog. Originally shelved for release in the U.S., Prone finally appeared only in Japan in 1979, making the original CBS/Sony LP a uniquely desirable Japanese pressing.
Produced once again by Steve Cropper, the album blends sophisticated West Coast AOR with blue-eyed soul, mellow funk and beautifully understated songwriting. “To Prove My Love” is the undeniable classic, while “Think Like A Lover,” “If You Only Knew” and “Sweet Friction” reveal just how deep the album goes.
Smooth, soulful and effortlessly refined — and one of the rare cases where Japan preserved an American AOR masterpiece the rest of the world initially missed.
