Comments:
Japan Original Pressing.
Released in November 1979 on the See-Saw label, “Mayonaka no Door / Stay With Me” is Miki Matsubara’s debut single and one of the defining Japanese city pop songs of all time. Written and composed by Tetsuji Hayashi with lyrics by Tokuko Miura, it’s a perfect late-70s blend of soulful AOR, disco-tinged groove and dramatic pop songwriting – tight rhythm section, warm Rhodes and horns, and Matsubara’s powerful, emotional vocal that never lets up from the first piano riff to the final chorus. This 7-inch single features the edited single mix, where Matsubara’s lead vocal enters right from the intro, unlike the album version on “Pocket Park,” which opens with backing vocals only – a key detail for collectors. Still played in clubs and bars worldwide and rediscovered by a new generation of listeners, this original 7-inch remains an essential piece for any city pop or Japanese AOR collection.

About the Condition
About the Condition
| Grade | Description |
|---|---|
| S (Sealed) | Still sealed in factory wrap. Never played. |
| M (Mint) | Perfect condition. Looks unplayed with no signs of use. Typically used for records that are brand new or opened but never played. |
| EX (Excellent) | Very clean. May have light scuffs or hairline marks, but plays perfectly. |
| VG+ (Very Good Plus) | Minor wear, light surface noise, no major flaws — a solid average used copy. |
| VG (Very Good) | Visible wear and surface noise. Plays through without skipping. |
| G+ (Good Plus) | Heavily used. Significant wear or scratches, but still playable. |
+ / − may be added to indicate slight variations (e.g. VG+, EX−).
We visually inspect every record, and we clean each one before shipping (play-testing when needed). Even new or great-looking vinyl—especially some Japanese pressings—can have light background noise. We grade carefully by eye and ear, but it’s still a human call, so please check the notes before buying.
