Yasashii Kankei is a 1981 album by actress Mayumi Asaka, and the sound is stronger than the “actress record” image might suggest. “My Endless Scene” brings a mellow city-pop feel, “Hold on Me” has a smooth mid-tempo stepper groove, and “Toki yo Hohoende” leans into a disco-funk touch. With names like Masanori Sasaji, Junichi Kawauchi, Tetsuro Oda, Hirotaka Izumi, and Daiko Nagato involved, this is a hidden Japanese city-pop LP with real arrangement appeal.
