Warm, urban mellow-soul with light AOR swing—Masaki Ueda fronts a studio super-band called Push & Pull, anchored by guitarist Masaki Matsubara, with guests Kenji Omura on guitar and Carmen Maki on vocals in spots. The set was released in 1978 on Kitty Records in Japan, and it’s widely cited by collectors as Ueda’s definitive mellow side.
Opener Chīsana Uchū (小さな宇宙) sets the tone with floating Rhodes and unhurried pocket; Like A Samba moves into a breezy samba-funk lane that DJs love for its loopable sections and tidy rhythm-guitar work. Tracklist highlights also include the moody Konnani Fukai Yoru and the shimmering Hikaru Umi, Nagareboshi.
