Sharp Japanese jazz-rock fusion with Satoh’s synths, Shimizu’s sax, and a tight, progressive rhythm section.
MSB Two is the second and final album by Masahiko Satoh & Medical Sugar Bank, and it goes much deeper than a smooth fusion record. Satoh’s synths and keyboards, Yasuaki Shimizu’s sax, Kenji Takamizu’s bass, Hideo Yamaki’s drums, and Tadaomi Anai’s percussion create a tight, technical, and slightly leftfield sound. “Oiwake” and “Wing-Over” are especially strong, making this a great pick for listeners into Japanese jazz-rock, progressive fusion, and serious player-driven records.
