The final album under the Soul Media name, recorded in 1980 with longtime collaborator Norio Maeda alongside top players including Akira Okazawa, Yuichi Togashiki, Shin Kazuhara and Eri Ohno.
Rather than simply continuing their heavy ’70s jazz-rock sound, Memory Lane moves into a more polished and urban space — warm electric keys, tight bass and drums, rich horn arrangements and beautifully mellow grooves. From the emotional title track to the breezy “I Will Give You Samba” and the sharper funk of “Take My Hand,” this is sophisticated Japanese fusion with real soul and depth.
