Japan Original Pressing.
If ambient music has a summit, Green belongs there — a near-perfect world of light, air, water and silence, created from electronics yet somehow feeling more natural than nature itself.
Green is one of those rare records that seems to redefine what ambient music can be. Recorded in Hiroshi Yoshimura’s home studio during the winter of 1985–86, it transforms the crisp tones of Yamaha FM synthesizers into something impossibly soft, warm and alive.
“CREEK” flows in slow, crystalline patterns; “FEEL” seems to suspend time; “SLEEP” reduces melody to something almost weightless, while the title track “GREEN” feels less like a composition than an atmosphere gradually forming around you. Nothing demands attention, yet every tiny shift in tone changes the space.
That is what makes Green so extraordinary. It does not imitate nature. There are no forests or rivers required to tell you what to imagine. Instead, Yoshimura creates the sensation of nature through pure sound — repetition, resonance, silence and the smallest movements of melody. Ambient music often disappears into the background; Green quietly changes the way you hear the background itself.
And this original 1986 AIR Records pressing is especially significant. It contains Yoshimura’s preferred original mix, before environmental sound effects were added for the later U.S. CD version. Here, nothing stands between the listener and the extraordinary purity of the music.
More than a landmark of Japanese environmental music, Green is one of the purest expressions of ambient music ever recorded — timeless, weightless and almost impossibly beautiful. Original 1986 AIR Records pressing.

About the Condition
About the Condition
| Grade | Description |
|---|---|
| S (Sealed) | Still sealed in factory wrap. Never played. |
| M (Mint) | Perfect condition. Looks unplayed with no signs of use. Typically used for records that are brand new or opened but never played. |
| EX (Excellent) | Very clean. May have light scuffs or hairline marks, but plays perfectly. |
| VG+ (Very Good Plus) | Minor wear, light surface noise, no major flaws — a solid average used copy. |
| VG (Very Good) | Visible wear and surface noise. Plays through without skipping. |
| G+ (Good Plus) | Heavily used. Significant wear or scratches, but still playable. |
+ / − may be added to indicate slight variations (e.g. VG+, EX−).
We visually inspect every record, and we clean each one before shipping (play-testing when needed). Even new or great-looking vinyl—especially some Japanese pressings—can have light background noise. We grade carefully by eye and ear, but it’s still a human call, so please check the notes before buying.
