A scarce 1977 Japanese vocal LP with mellow synths, light city-pop-adjacent grooves, and a surprisingly strong kayō groove feel.
Machibouke is not a well-known title, but that is exactly what makes it interesting. Beneath the soft vocal image, the album has mellow synth touches, light rhythm movement, and a strong kayō groove that should appeal to listeners digging beyond the obvious city-pop records. It is not straight city pop, but the sound often lands in a very good place between Japanese pop, mellow groove, and late-70s studio arrangement. A quiet but very rewarding pick for groove-minded collectors.
