A Song Of The Nile is a beautiful and deeply meditative Hamza El Din record, recorded in Japan in 1982. The sound is extremely simple on the surface, built around oud, tar, voice, and handclaps, but the repetition and space create a powerful, almost minimal atmosphere. Not a city-pop or fusion record, of course, but a very special LP for listeners into spiritual folk, world music, minimal sound, and deep organic grooves.
