Winelight is one of Grover Washington, Jr.’s most loved albums, and a perfect bridge between jazz-funk, smooth jazz, soul, and AOR. “Just the Two of Us” with Bill Withers is the obvious highlight, but the whole album carries a warm, elegant groove, with Marcus Miller, Steve Gadd, Eric Gale, Richard Tee, and Ralph MacDonald giving the record real studio depth. Smooth, soulful, and timeless, this is an essential mellow groove LP.
