1982 Japanese city-pop gem — sleek urban grooves, latin inflections, and a closing “JOEPO / Down Town” medley tipping the hat to Sugar Babe’s classic.
Released May 21, 1982 on RCA/RVC, EPO’s third album sharpens her pop craft with arranger Nobuyuki Shimizu at the core, plus standout touches from Kenji Omura and Kunio Muramatsu. Opener “Girl in me” is written by Ray Parker Jr., the title track “Uwasa ni Naritai” brings a buoyant, latin-flavored swing, and the set closes with “JOEPO / Down Town”—EPO’s wink to Tatsuro Yamashita & Ginji Ito’s Sugar Babe classic that later became TV-famous. For DJs/selectors: clean intros, tight drum programming, and mid-tempo grooves make multiple cuts floor-friendly.
