Shiny 1983 Japanese fusion from Casiopea’s classic lineup – bright melodies, tight slap bass and ultra-clean drums built for smooth but energetic sets.
Released in 1983 on Alfa, Photographs is Casiopea’s seventh studio album, with the core quartet of Issei Noro, Minoru Mukaiya, Tetsuo Sakurai and Akira Jimbo in peak form. From the bright opening run of “Looking Up,” “Dazzling” and “Long Term Memory” through to the midtempo cruisers “Misty Lady” and “Love You Day By Day,” the record balances singable themes with intricate rhythm work and glossy early-80s synth textures. Clean drum intros, tight bass vamps and short, hooky keyboard phrases pop up across the album, making it a gift for DJs and beatmakers looking for sample-friendly sections that still carry that unmistakable Casiopea sparkle.
