Down Upbeat is strongest when framed not as smooth background fusion, but as Casiopea at full technical focus and urban velocity. The New York recording gives the album a tighter, harder outline, while the classic Noro–Mukaiya–Sakurai–Jimbo lineup drives everything with bright precision, rhythmic elasticity, and real forward force. It is clean and highly controlled, but never weightless — the city-minded sharpness is exactly what makes this one hit.
